Advocating for children with learning challenges

Children with learning challenges may receive a variety of services from their Home School, School District, and/or Special Education Local Planning Agency. There are two types of documents created to provide these services an Individualized Education Plan and/or 504 Plan. Each one requires assessment, a parent conference, written goals and objectives and parental acceptance. Parents have specific rights/responsibilities that are critical for them to understand and act on to receive the best services for their child’s individual needs.
